Whether you’re interested in working with images in your writing or creating more visually striking text documents, the tools available to users of InDesign can be valuable and transformative once learned. In this collaborative workshop space, we will explore how inventive forms and visual distortions can be used to tell intriguing stories, write resonant poems, and make compelling arguments. This is a hands-on and introductory session, so attendees will be learning a few basic techniques of composing using InDesign and will then be encouraged to apply those techniques to a piece of their writing.
All are welcome and encouraged to bring any form of writing. Previous experience with InDesign is not necessary.
Attendees are asked to bring a laptop with InDesign already installed.
On the same laptop, attendees should also have some writing easily accessible. This could be a short story, poem, translation, essay, etc…just a piece of writing with which they’d like to experiment.
InDesign and other Adobe applications are available free to students, faculty, and staff through the Office of Software Licensing. For more information, visit: https://software.utah.edu/faq/license/adc/named_2017_new.php
Laptops are available to check out in the Knowledge Commons.
