Digital Matters – RIG Speaker – Wendy Wischer, Assistant Professor Department of Art & Art History

October 2, 2018 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Digital Matters would like to announce an upcoming talk by Wendy Wischer (Assistant Professor, Sculpture Intermedia Department of Art and Art History). Her talked, entitled Overlapping Boundaries will be on Tuesday, October 2nd from 2:30 to 3:30 pm in the Digital Matters pop-up space located in the Dumke Fine Arts & Architecture Library on the second floor of Marriott Library. Light refreshments will be served.

Description:
With a focus on artistic creation in a variety of media from sculptural objects, to installations, to video, sound, and public works, Wendy Wischer’s artwork is based on blurring the separation between the intrinsic history of working with nature and the cutting edge of New Genre and New Media. The conceptual focus of her work highlights environmental issues–finding ways to translate data into personal understanding and create artwork that moves the viewer in poetic ways. In her research, Wischer seeks a wide range of data that can be used to creatively link nature with technology, science with mythology, and personal identity with universal connections while addressing our current environmental crisis in hopes of finding impactful ways to connect people more deeply with the environments they live in.
