Rebekah Cummings

Director

As the Director of Digital Matters I work closely with our partner colleges to coordinate digital humanities research, instruction, and support at the U. I have been a librarian at the Marriott Library since 2013, serving in a variety of roles including Assistant Director of the Mountain West Digital Library (2013-2015), Data Management Librarian (2015-2018), and Digital Matters Librarian/Director since 2018. My research interests include humanities data management, copyright, collections as data, and library advocacy.

Kaylee Alexander

Associate Director

As Associate Director, I work closely with our graduate fellows to develop their research projects and partner with the Director on Digital Matters operations. I am also a Research Data Librarian at the Marriott Library, where I support open science through research data management and sharing. My research brings together material culture and data science to explore how societies remember—and sometimes erase—their dead. I earned my PhD in Art History and Visual Culture from Duke University. My publications include A Data-Driven Analysis of Cemeteries and Social Reform in Paris, 1804–1924 (Routledge, 2024) and the co-edited volume Libraries, Archives and Collective Grief (Bristol University Press, 2026).
