What does “privacy” mean in the Digital Age? Does it exist or is it a myth, constructed by those who profess to protect and store it?
This workshop addresses questions concerning digital privacy, access, accessibility, and authority and teaches users practical tools applied in the digital sphere. Is it possible to have authority over one’s online interactions? Can limiting screen time reduce one’s visibility, hack-ability, and traceability? By utilizing software and drawing on advice from hacker Kevin Mitnick, I hope to address how to manage digital space in the sea of information that floods our 21st-century lives.
Whether you are currently implementing extra levels of safety online or are simply interested in discussing the topic, all are welcome to join. Please come prepared with a laptop with Google Chrome already installed. Laptops are available to check out in the Knowledge Commons.
